One of the best fighters of WW2, Chance-Vought's F4U Corsair was the first to beat the Japanese Zero in all aspects of aerial combat. Called "Whistling Death" by the Japanese, the F4U was flown by both Navy and Marine pilots and was made famous by Aces such as Pappy Boyington and ken Walsh. It served with distinction as a fighter, fighter-bomber and radar-equipped night fighter throughout WW2 and in the Korean War.
In WW2, the F4U-1D Corsair could carry two AN-M65 1000 lb GP Bombs (top) and eight 5-inch HVARs or High Velocity Aircraft Rockets (bottom). Weapon models are scaled approximately at 1:20.
